Axolile Qina

Bio

Axolile Qina is a PhD Candidate in New Testament and Christian Origins at Edinburgh University, investigating the dilemma of animal sacrifice among Xhosa Christians today. PhD Research includes an exegetical interpretation of Jesus’ sacrifice in the Gospel of John, Xhosa animal sacrifice, Xhosa Christian interpretations of Jesus’ sacrifice, and Christian negotiation of indigenous religious practice. Education history: a Master of Theology (New Testament) and Bachelor of Theology (Hons) at Stellenbosch University in South Africa; and a taught Master of Arts in Theological Studies program from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Previously was a Tutor at the School of Divinity, teaching ‘Moses & Torah’ and ‘Global Indigenous Religions.’ Currently writing up his PhD thesis for submission and completing a few invited publication projects.
